VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Rise FC are battling Montreal Roses FC as they search to get back into the playoff places.  

REFOCUS, REGROUP: Rise FC are looking to get some redemption on Wednesday, after a disappointing defeat to Tides FC this past weekend. Rise FC had a tough time to put their usual stamp on the game, despite having some great chances to equalize towards the end of the match, something that defender Tori Tumeth acknowledged after the match. “I think we need to look at that performance today quite honestly, and evaluate it,” she said. “I think everyone was quite disappointed with the performance and result… so we’ll be back and have another opportunity on Wednesday to fix everything that wasn’t there today.” Saturday’s result now gives Rise FC extra motivation to come out fighting against Montreal Roses FC, and bounce back to the form they showed previously. 

GETTING BACK INTO PLAYOFFS: After last weekend’s result, Rise FC now find themselves outside the playoff places at the halfway point of the season. However, history shows that Rise FC have been able to turn their form around after finding themselves in a similar position last year, and still going on to win the playoffs. Head Coach Anja Heiner-Møller recognized after the match that this situation can be used as a source of motivation. “We use the table as a motivation, that we can impact the table,” she said. “But we also know it’s a long tournament, we’re just halfway now, [so there’s] lots of games and points to go for. So…we just need to stick together and focus on the next game, because we know we can do that.” Fans who were there last year know to not count Rise FC out anytime soon, as last year’s winner medals prove that the team is always dangerous in the face of adversity. 

MONTREAL DOGFIGHT: Tomorrow will see the return of a fan-favourite theme match, Bark at the Park. Up against Montreal Roses FC, Rise FC will want to be paws-itively locked in with hundreds of furry fans barking their support for the team. With Roses FC second in the table, it may appear to be a ‘ruff’ match for Rise FC, but they will no doubt be chasing that victory with fur-ocious intent.
