VANCOUVER, BC - For the first time this season, it’s time to go from coast to coast!
On Saturday July 19th, Vancouver Rise FC will travel all the way to Halifax, Nova Scotia to battle Halifax Tides FC in the third meeting of the season. Rise FC will be looking to bounce back after last week’s loss with a big three road points, as the race for the playoffs heats up.
LOOKING TO GET BACK INTO PLAYOFF SPOTS: Rise FC have a new challenge in getting back into the playoff spots, and it starts this Saturday. Sitting just two points behind both Calgary Wild FC and Ottawa Rapid FC on 12 points and two points ahead of Tides FC, this upcoming match proves to be a perfect opportunity for Rise FC to jump above their rivals, given that both sides above them will face each other on the same day.
With the season just about at the half-way mark, Rise FC will want to set down a marker and seal their place in the playoff spots, with the championship final looming on November 15th…
IRONWOMAN WOELLER: Shannon Woeller is on the brink of a huge milestone for Rise FC. Having played every minute of every match so far, Woeller is just 10 minutes away from becoming Rise FC’s first outfield player to hit 1000 minutes in the NSL. The veteran defender has been a steadfast starter for the team, commanding the back line and leading by example as club captain.
Woeller also continues to lead the league in both total passes (790) and touches (888), truly justifying her undroppable form.
KEEPING THAT 100% RECORD: Rise FC have had an impressive record so far against Halifax Tides, winning both matches this season. In the first match in April, a Jasmyne Spencer screamer broke the deadlock in a tense game, settling the affair in Rise FC’s first win at Swangard stadium. Then in May, Rise FC hosted Tides FC once again, this time defeating them 2-1 draw after a thrilling opening half-hour with goals from Lisa Pechersky and Mariah Lee.
This time around, Rise FC will be looking to bring that strong record on the road as they travel to Wanderers Grounds, a place where Tides FC will feel the strongest. Time to give it all they got!
