CALGARY, AB (SEPTEMBER 27, 2026) – It was a frustrating Sunday afternoon for Vancouver Rise FC in Calgary, as they fell to a 3-1 defeat to Calgary Wild FC despite leading early. 

Rise FC started strong, testing Wild FC 'keeper Sarah Keilty-Dilling early as a cross from Okamoto nearly snuck in if not for a glancing palm from the Calgary ‘keeper. Alex Lamontagne was on-hand for a rebound, but her shot dipped wide of the far post. 

Jessica De Filippo looked to add to her league-leading 12 goals in the ninth minute, firing from distance but right into the hands of Keilty-Diling. 

Rise FC ‘keeper Jessica Wulf had to be sharp as well, as she was called to action a few minutes later to intercept a through ball intended for Serita Thurton before the forward could latch onto it. 

Meikayla Moore came to the rescue for Wild FC in the 33rd minute, after Lamontagne cut it back for De Filippo in the box, with the defender stepping in the way of De Filippo’s strike from short distance. 

Both Lamontagne and Mia Pante were lively down the wings all half, finding space in behind to pump crosses into those dangerous areas, and it was that combination that opened the scoring in the 35th minute. 

Pante raced down the left and squeezed a cross towards the edge of the box for Lamontagne to meet first-time with a sumptuous volley, placing it into the top corner. 

Wulf made sure that Rise FC went into the break with the lead, after the ‘keeper got a fingertip to a dangerous cross, poking it away from the awaiting Wild FC heads in the box. 

The second half saw Wild FC equalize early on, with Taylor Otto heading it past Wulf to make it 1-1. 

Dougherty-Howard then made it 2-1 in the 56th minute, scoring from a free-kick.

Rise FC had to do the work again, and pushed forward to find an equalizer. Lamontagne had a chance in the 63rd minute after De Filippo laid it off for the forward, but the strike went right to Keitly-Diling. 

Wild FC made it 3-1 in the 64th minute, as Jorian Baucom’s volley put them two goals ahead. 

Pante tried to re-create her magic from the opening goal in the 75th minute, but her cross instead went into the side-netting. 

With the game nearing its end, De Filippo tried to spark a comeback with a shot from the edge of the box in the 89th minute, but it went over the crossbar and out. 

Abdu almost pulled one back in added time, as she slid for a deflected shot from De Filippo off a free-kick, but her shot went agonizingly past the far corner. 

Wild FC’s second half comeback in the end sealed the three points for the home side, as Rise FC has to continue to fight hard to seal their playoff place. 

Rise FC turn their attention to their next pair of matches in Ontario, facing AFC Toronto on October 4th at 10 a.m. PT before battling Ottawa Rapid FC on October 18th at 1 p.m. PT. Rise FC then closes off the regular season at home for our Fan Appreciation Match, presented by Explore Burnaby, against Wild FC on October 25. Kick-off is at 1 p.m. PT.
