VANCOUVER, BC - Six Vancouver Rise FC Academy players have been called up for Canada’s Women’s Under-17 team for the upcoming 2025 Under-17 4 Nations Tournament. Torah Betteridge, Adri Giese, Lacey Kindel, Bridget Mutipula, Samantha Powell, and Chloe Taylor have all answered the call and will be representing their country ahead of the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup later this fall.
The 4 Nations Tournament is a competition that comprises the nations of Canada, the United States, Mexico and Costa Rica, with all the matches taking place at the Centro de Alto Rendimiento-CAR in Mexico City later this month.
Torah Betteridge, 16, has already made two appearances for the U-17’s, playing in the Concacaf Women’s Under-17 qualifiers this past April. She played 90 minutes in Canada’s 2-0 win over Panama and 60 minutes in their 5-0 win over Nicaragua. The Calgary-born defender has also played 14 games for Rise FC Academy in League1 BC this season, keeping six clean sheets and registering three assists.
Adri Giese, 16, was part of Team Canada when they won the 2024 Youth Nations Cup last summer, as one of the only 2009 players to participate. The Burnaby native played 15 games for Rise FC Academy in League1 BC this season, scoring one goal and registering five assists.
Lacey Kindel, 15, has also featured twice for Canada’s U-17’s, playing in the Concacaf Women’s Under-17 qualifiers this past April, including matches against Panama and Nicaragua where she played for 66 and 74 minutes, respectively. The attacking midfielder has played 13 games for Rise FC Academy in League1 BC, scoring four goals and registering seven assists.
Bridget Mutipula, 16, has already made six appearances and registered 378 minutes for the Canada’s U-17’s, featuring in both of those matches against Panama and Nicaragua earlier this year, as well as in Team Canada’s matches against Puerto Rico, Mexico, Haiti and the United States in 2024. The centre-back has played 12 games for Rise FC Academy in League1 BC, registering three goals, four assists and six clean sheets.
Samantha Powell, 16, is a bronze medalist with Canada’s U-15s, as they came third in last year’s Concacaf Girls’ U-15 Championship after defeating Costa Rica 2-1. The goalkeeper played 11 games for Rise FC Academy in League1 BC this season, keeping four clean sheets.
Chloe Taylor, 16, made one appearance for Canada’s U-17’s, playing a full 90 minutes in their Concacaf Women's Under-17 qualifier match against Panama in April. The versatile midfielder has played nine games for Rise FC Academy in League1 BC, registering two goals and four assists. The North Vancouver native has also made three appearances for Rise FC’s first team so far this season, registering 242 minutes.
