VANCOUVER, BC (August 10, 2026) – Vancouver Rise FC announced on Monday the launch of the club’s Soccer for Cancer fundraising campaign, in partnership with the Canadian Cancer Society.

Fans can donate to the campaign at the club’s official fundraising page. As part of the initiative, Rise FC will host a Soccer for Cancer night at the Saturday, September 5 home match against Halifax Tides FC at Swangard Stadium. One dollar from every ticket sold to the match will be donated to the Canadian Cancer Society through the Soccer for Cancer campaign.

“Cancer is something that affects so many people in our community, and across Canada,” said Aditi Bhatt, Rise FC interim president. “We know that when our soccer community comes together, we can make a big impact. We look forward to raising money for the Soccer for Cancer program in the coming months, and to see everyone at our match in September.”

Rise FC goalkeeper Kirstin Tynan has taken a leading role in the Soccer for Cancer campaign. Earlier this year, Tynan visited patients at the Canadian Cancer Society Lodge in Vancouver alongside teammates Ariel Young and the recently-retired Mariah Lee.

“As players in Canada, it’s an incredible opportunity to work with a major organization like the Canadian Cancer Society that does such amazing work,” added Tynan. “Visiting the lodge not only enabled us to connect with the community, but also to see what kind of a difference our fundraising efforts can truly make.”

Soccer for Cancer is a new national fundraising program launched this year that empowers players and communities across Canada to take collective action against cancer. The program was created to help players, coaches and supporters organize and host cancer fundraising events anywhere the game is played, from community pitches and indoor domes to training facilities and tournament fields. The new program joins beloved fundraising programs designed for sports lovers at CCS, like Hockey Fights Cancer™ Assist and Golf for Cancer, and offers a consistent, easy-to-use experience for organizers, backed by tools, resources and a dedicated online fundraising platform.

Funds raised through Soccer for Cancer are invested in the most promising cancer research, compassionate support services for people living with cancer and their caregivers, and advocacy for healthy public policies that help prevent cancer and improve care across Canada. Teams can designate funds raised to specific cancer types, such as breast or lung cancer, or direct their fundraising to the area of greatest need across all cancers.

Fans can also register their own Soccer for Cancer team. The registered team that is the top fundraiser for Soccer for Cancer by September 30, 2026 will earn a virtual "chalk talk" with Canada men’s national team head coach and Soccer for Cancer ambassador Jesse Marsch.

Rise FC fans can grab their ticket for the Soccer for Cancer match, as well as all other matches, at vanrisefc.com/tickets.
