BURNABY, BC (AUGUST 29, 2026) – It was another dramatic finish at Swangard Stadium on Saturday, as Vancouver Rise FC scored yet another last-gasp goal to steal a point away from Calgary Wild FC and stay inside the playoff spots.

Rise FC put their stamp on the match from the start, controlling possession and keeping the ball in Wild FC’s half.

Alex Lamontagne nearly got Rise FC on the board early after a ball trickled behind the Wild FC defence on the right, but the angle was too tight for the striker in the box, and her shot rippled the side-netting.

Wild FC grabbed the opener in the 12th minute, after a great stop by Rise FC ‘keeper Jessica Wulf was bundled in by Serita Thurton on the rebound.

Rise FC nearly got back into it after Mia Pante whipped in a cross towards the back post from the left, but Lamontagne was just inches off from making a connection.

That same connection almost came through in the 19th minute, with Lamontagne free at the back post but her volleyed effort curled away from the top corner.

Rise FC kept pushing hard in the ensuing minutes to find that equalizer, with Quinn forcing a corner after a ball dropped for them in the box.

The pressure only grew as the game approached the half-way mark, with corner after corner giving Rise FC new chances to find a goal.

And it was off a corner that Rise FC were given a golden opportunity with a penalty, after Quinn was taken down in the box. The Rise FC captain stepped up and blasted it into the roof of the net to make it 1-1 on the afternoon.

Wild FC did not let the parity last long, as they scored to get back in front in the 42nd minute through Kahli Johnson.

Rise FC went into the break just a goal down, but with plenty of time to turn their match around.

The second half saw Rise FC come back out with renewed determination, and had two close chances inside the first three minutes from just outside the box. Half-time substitute Jessica De Filippo fired a shot towards goal that just bent wide of the mark, before Pante drilled a shot that fizzed past the bottom corner.

Maithe Lopez had a chance blocked after a great cutback from Anna Bout on the right, with Wild FC just about clearing their lines in the aftermath.

10 minutes into the half, Latifah Abdu almost snuck the ball away from Wild FC ‘keeper Sarah Keilty-Dilling after being played in behind, but Wild FC were able to close the forward down in time for Keiltly-Dilling to smother.

Audrey Francois came into the game near the hour mark and almost had that tying goal after a few minutes, getting on the end of a cross near the penalty spot but being blocked once more.

Later, Abdu was once again involved near the mouth of goal, trying to capitalize on a mistake in the defense, but Wild FC just about got it away before she could turn it in.

Rise FC never let up however, even when the clock began to wind down, and they were rewarded for their relentless effort with a last-gasp equalizer courtesy of the league’s joint top scorer, De Filippo.

Camila Reyes floated a stunning cross right towards the head of De Filippo, who knocked it past Keiltly-Dilling to grab the goal, grab the top spot in the golden boot race, and of course, a valuable point at home.
