OTTAWA, ON (AUGUST 22, 2026) – Vancouver Rise FC hit a high five on Saturday night in Ottawa, flying past Ottawa Rapid FC with a 5-1 statement victory. 

Rise FC had a bright start in the capital, with Latifah Abdu getting the first real chance after six minutes, trying to sidefoot a cross from Maithe Lopez inside the box, but the effort didn’t have enough pace to get past Rapid FC ‘keeper Melissa Dagenais. 

Abdu had another crack five minutes later, shrugging off her marker to get on the end of a deep ball forward, but her left footed strike could only find the hands of Dagenais. 

Rise FC ‘keeper Jessica Wulf then made a smart save in the 24th minute, parrying a shot from Keera Melenhorst. 

The league’s joint top scorer Jessica De Filippo nearly capitalized on a fortuitous bounce off the back of Jyllissa Harris at the edge of the box just past the half-hour mark, chipping the ball over Dagenais but also clearing the crossbar. 

Towards the end of the half, Rise FC had a flurry of chances after they overloaded Ottawa’s box with players, with Abdu, De Filippo and Camila Reyes having opportunities to score but unable to get them on target. 

Shortly after Lopez had a golden opportunity right before the break, De Filippo found the run of Alex Lamontagne in-behind and the Canadian forward did well to hold off her defender and slot her shot past Dagenais to give Rise FC the 1-0 lead heading into the break. 

Rise FC began the second half with a bang, scoring two goals inside the first three minutes, with Lamontagne both scoring and assisting. The forward scored her second straight off of kickoff, blasting it in from just inside the box after a loose clearance. 

Then not 90 seconds later, Lamontagne drifted wide and found the trailing run of Anna Bout near the penalty spot, who redirected it calmly past Dagenais to make it 3-0. 

Rise FC got the opportunity to make it 4-0 in the 55th minute after Lamontagne was brought down in the box, with Reyes stepping up and drilling it low to score 4-0. 

Rise FC reached a flying high five after Lopez scored in the 65th minute, cutting inside from the left and curling her shot off the far post and in. 

Ottawa did get a consolation goal in the 80th minute after Elise Bell scored off a corner, but it would do little to dampen an emphatic performance for Rise FC on the road.
