Kaela Hansen is a 26-year-old defender and local Burnaby, BC product who returns home to Vancouver Rise FC after a successful tenure with Northern Super League side AFC Toronto, where she made 24 appearances and helped capture the 2025 NSL Shield. A former Vancouver Rise FC Academy standout, Hansen built a standout collegiate career at the University of Kansas, setting school records for all-time games and minutes played while earning Defensive MVP honors and leading the Jayhawks to an NCAA Sweet 16 appearance. She gained extensive European experience playing for Serbian champions ŽFK Spartak Subotica and Finnish side KuPS, competing in UEFA Women's Champions League qualification with both clubs, before her stint with AFC Toronto. Internationally, the defender represented Canada at the U17 and U20 levels, including the 2016 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, and earned a call-up to the Philippines senior national team training camp in early 2025.
